Open Letter from Dr. Michael Cowpland, Corel's President and CEO Dear Customers:

Corel has some exciting news! We've just acquired three highly popular, award-winning professional graphics applications from MetaCreations Corporation: MetaCreations Painter™, Kai's Power Tools® (KPT®) and Bryce®. Corel is proud to add these stellar graphics applications - which run on both Macintosh® and PC platforms - to our already impressive lineup. We know these applications have a loyal customer base, so we'd like to take this opportunity to tell you why we purchased them and what we plan to do with the products.
Corel is deeply committed to the continued success of these applications and plans to invest considerable resources into their further development. Corel has long been recognized as a leader in graphics software, having produced acclaimed titles such as CorelDRAW® and Corel PHOTO-PAINT®. With our proven track record, we feel we're uniquely qualified to deliver on this promise. MetaCreations Painter, KPT and Bryce perfectly complement our existing professional graphics product lines. The addition of these packages will give us an even stronger presence in the graphics market and advance our strategic vision of providing world-class applications for a variety of major platforms, including Windows®, Mac® and Linux®.
Corel plans to release new versions of MetaCreations Painter, KPT and Bryce in future. The products are currently localized in German, French and Japanese, and Corel plans to broaden that range by leveraging its expertise in product localization. We will also consider porting these products to the Linux platform. Corel and MetaCreations are making every effort to ensure that customer service and technical support are delivered seamlessly throughout the transition process. We are thrilled to welcome our new customers aboard and hope it will be the start of a long and happy relationship.
